King’s Cup 2023: Preview of the teams and matches

The Thailand Football Association hosts the King’s Cup, an annual international football competition. With its inaugural event taking place in 1968, it is the oldest football competition in Asia.
The 49th iteration of the competition will be the King’s Cup in 2023. It will take place from June 5–14, 2023, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Thailand, India, Iraq, and Lebanon are the four participating teams. Having won the competition in 2022, Thailand will be the reigning champion.

Each team will face the other once during the round-robin portion of the competition. The top two teams progress to the championship game.
On June 14, 2023, the championship game will take place at Chiang Mai’s 700th Anniversary Stadium.

The Teams

Thailand

The tournament’s defending champions, Thailand, will try to win it for the 17th time. In the King’s Cup’s history, they have had the greatest success.
Chanathip Songkrasin, who plays for Consadole Sapporo in Japan, is the captain of Thailand’s powerful team. Other talented players they have include Theerathon Bunmathan, Tristan Do, and Kawin Thamsatchanan.

India

India, who finished second in the 2022 King’s Cup, will try to advance this year. They have a youthful, skilled team that is captained by India’s all-time leading scorer, Sunil Chhetri.
Other seasoned players from India are Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Sandesh Jhingan, and Manvir Singh.

Iraq

Iraq, who finished third in the 2022 King’s Cup, will try to outdo their performance from this year. Mohanad Ali, a player with Al-Shorta in Iraq, is the captain of a talented team for them.
Other talented players from Iraq include Ahmed Yasin, Ali Adnan, and Ali Faez.

Lebanon

The fourth and last team competing in the 2023 King’s Cup is Lebanon. They have a lot of talented players, including Mohamad Kdouh, who plays for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, despite being a relatively new side on the international stage.
Lebanon will be aiming to leave their mark on the competition and shock a favorite.

The Matches

The 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiang Mai will host the 2023 King’s Cup matches. The stadium can accommodate 40,000 people.
